This ruby bracelet was prepared with a tiger-motif piece set at the center of the row; a worked figure beside the red. There is no production mold: every piece was worked one at a time at a workbench in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar, in the hands of a master with more than thirty years at the bench. Because the lines of the motif are deepened by hand, every piece carries an expression of its own.
Ruby was spoken of in India as the lord of stones and is associated with courage. The tiger figure, too, is an emblem of strength and protection in old Anatolian jewelry.
