A drop-cut emerald hangs from a 925 sterling silver pendant; the pointed end of the stone looks downward at the neck. It was worked mold-free; at a bench in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar it was made one at a time in the hands of a master with more than thirty years at the bench. Because the curve of the drop is turned by hand, no two pieces come out exactly alike.
Emerald is traditionally associated with loyalty and renewal. Since the mines of Cleopatra it has been counted the most precious green; it is carried with the intention of inner continuity.
