Ruby jewellery
Ruby is the red member of the corundum family and one of the hardest stones after diamond. Its colour ranges from a pink-leaning red to deep blood red; most natural rubies are opaque or have inclusions. Put a prong-set raw ruby next to a polished oval-cut ruby and the difference is immediately visible: one is matt and rough, the other reflects light. The largest group is rings: minimal and drop designs, and snake-motif and Efrend series rings combined with diamonds.
The earrings include oval-cut, leaf and dangle designs, and the necklaces include single-strand and drop necklaces. The bracelets come in mini, tiger-motif and gold-plated designs. We have gathered the 99-bead prayer beads strung with ruby beads and those with a crescent and star tassel on the Ruby Prayer Beads page.
Ruby does not scratch easily in everyday wear; keeping it away from perfume, cream and alcohol-based liquids is enough. Ruby is traditionally associated with courage and vitality.
