Agate jewellery

Hold agate up to the light and you will see its layers; it comes in every tone from red to brown and from white to green. Agate is a translucent stone from the chalcedony family. There are three groups on the page: Yemeni agate, known for its red tones, agates in other colours, and black and green onyx from the same family. If you are only looking for Yemeni agate, it is all together on the Yemeni Agate page.

Agate is traditionally one of the stones chosen for inscriptions. The list includes an agate ring inscribed with Ali Waliullah, a bracelet inscribed with Muhammad Rasulullah, an Ism-i Azam agate set and a Yemeni agate necklace inscribed with Surah Al-Inshirah. One set of agate prayer beads has a brass imame (the head bead); the other pieces are mostly made in 925 sterling silver.

Agate is a hard stone and does not scratch easily in everyday wear. If you keep it away from perfume, cream and alcohol-based liquids, it keeps its shine for a long time. When choosing a colour, think about what you wear: black onyx makes a sharp contrast with silver, while red agate looks warmer beside it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does agate jewellery cost?

The most affordable agate piece is around 2,000 TL; most are between 3,500 and 8,000 TL. The Yemeni agate men's ring with diamond side stones is around 32,000 TL. The price depends on the size of the stone, the inscription work and the weight of the silver.

Are onyx and agate the same stone?

Like agate, onyx belongs to the chalcedony family; it is set apart by its straight, dark layers. That is why the onyx designs sit alongside agate on this page; the product name says which one it is.

How can you tell genuine Yemeni agate?

When you hold natural agate up to the light, you can see its layers and shifts in tone, and no two stones are identical. The agates we sell are natural stone. If you would like to see the stone in your hand before deciding, you can use your right of withdrawal within 14 days of receiving the product.
