Ruby beads were strung in a single row on this necklace; a plain arrangement, light on the neck, that brings the color of the stone forward. It was prepared mold-free — at a workbench in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar it was strung bead by bead in the hands of a master with more than thirty years at the bench.
Ruby is traditionally associated with leadership and self-assurance. In India it took the name of the lord of stones; it is carried by those who wish to make their decision heard.

- Measure the inner diameter of a ring that fits comfortably, in millimetres (from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge).

- Wrap a thin strip of paper or a piece of string around the finger you'll wear the ring on, passing over the knuckle.
- Mark where it meets and measure the strip flat — this is your finger circumference (mm).
